P.G. DEPARTMENT OF KAUMARBHRITYA
Indian Traditional system of Medicine (Ayurveda) has a separate branch for Paediatric care known as Kaumarbhritya/ Bal Rog. It is one of the most important branches among Ashtang Ayurveda. Kaumarbhritya deals with health and medical care of children from birth to 18 years. It focuses on all the aspects of nursing and healthy upbringing of newborn, infants and adolescents by holistic approach for better progeny and society. This Department is imparting teaching and training to Under Graduate, Post Graduate and Ph.D. Scholars. This branch deals with neonatal care, infant feeding, diet for new born, daily and seasonal regime and also deals with diseases and disorders relating to children including nutrition of children, Swarnaprashan, Immunization etc.
Currently 1 Professor, 1 Associate Professor, 2 Assistant Professors with six P.G. Scholars are working in the Department.
Vision
- To provide best heath care facilities to patients.
- To make UG Students able to recognize the key importance of child health care and to participate at primary level.
- To make PG Scholars able to acquire the competency pertaining to child health care through Ayurveda that is required to be practiced in the community and at all levels of health care, to get oriented with the principles of research methodology and to acquire skill in teaching methodology.
- To develop competence in Ph.D. scholars in advanced concepts of research methodology in the area of Ayurvedic Paediatrics and also to prepare them to be a productive member of team in health care, research and education.
Specialities
- Department is running regular OPDs with 24 hours IPD services by well trained doctors.
- Special Ayurveda Panchkarma treatment for specific childhood diseases like Behavioral disorders, skin diseases, Cerebral palsy, Muscle dystrophies.
- Counselling sessions performed by expert doctors for parents and children regarding behavioral and neurological problems and its importance in children.
- Arranging various programs like Swarnaprashan, Vaccination, School health check-up etc.
Methodology
- Departmental activities at regular basis through Presentation with equal participation of Teaching Staff, PG and Ph.D. Scholars.
- Clinical training by way of active involvement in OPD, case presentations and clinical discussions.
- Regularly organized activities- Departmental Seminars, Workshops, Group Discussions on innovative ideas, Extension Lectures, online participation in webinars, competitions and other related activities.
